Efim Chorny (Moldova; singer, songwriter, choir director)

is a singer, composer and teacher.
Efim Chorny, a native of his hometown of Kishinev, is one of the most important protagonists in the revival of Jewish culture in Eastern Europe.
His charismatic stage presence, exceptional voice, great humor and temperament make him a successor to the great tradition of Yiddish Song; a tradition he lives and personifies.

Chorny's songs have appeared on more than 30 CDs of Yiddish music, and have become standard repertoire for many internationally renowned performers, including Adrienne Cooper, Shura Lipovsky, Lorin Sklamberg and many others.
He has been teaching faculty (together with Susan Ghergus) in many Klezmer Festivals including Klezmer Paris, Yiddish Summer Weimar, YiddishFest Moscow, KlezKanada, Ot Azoy(London), Petersburg , Kiev and Lvov KlezFests.
The Chorny/Ghergus DUO has performed in many of the world's finest concert halls including Vienna Conservatory, Munich philarmonic "Carl Orff", Queen Elizabeth Hall(London), Lincoln Center(NY).

Efim Chorny and Susan Ghergus are leaders of  the "Theater of Jewish Song" (Moldova), and soloists of international bands "Pro-Yiddish Project", "Klezmer Alliance", "Besarabish", Wolga-Klezmer".
