Plays a number of different instruments (including accordion, piano, guitar, percussion and flutes) in a variety of styles, ranging from pop music to free improvisation. Since 2003, he has been involved with Yiddish music, studying, performing and teaching at international klezmer workshops and festivals in Latvia, Russia, Poland, Germany, UK and Canada.

He is a founding member and artistic director of the Riga-based band Forshpil, a founding member of the Yiddish-Bavarian Alpen Klezmer and a member of the international Queen Esther Klezmer Trio, as well as other projects.
