Semer Label Reloaded, Berlin 1933-38

August 2 Fri @Reithaus 21:00

Originally created for the Berlin Jewish Museum, Semer Label Reloaded is a star-studded New Yiddish Music project that brilliantly re-creates and re-interprets a repertoire that is almost impossible to believe: recordings of Jewish music made by the Semer Label in Berlin in the 1930s during the height of Nazi power. Yiddish folk, theater and art songs, klezmer music, cantorial song, Hebrew folk and art songs, even Russian folk songs - all had a place here before the label was shut down in 1938.

Led by Alan Bern and featuring Grammy-winners Lorin Sklamberg and Frank London, Daniel Kahn, Sasha Lurje, Mark Kovnatskiy, Benjy Fox-Rosen, Fabian Schnedler and Jacobus Thiele, a concert that will lift you off your feet.
