Final Concert Instrumental Workshop – New Yiddish Music!

August 3 Sun @Musikschule 20:00

For more than a decade, the instrumental, vocal and dance workshops during Yiddish Summer Weimar have brought together artists and students from the whole world in an intensely creative atmosphere to share new ideas and approaches, initiate new projects, and discover the next horizon of Yiddish culture. Under the direction of leading international artists, workshop participants don't learn about New Yiddish Music, they create it themselves. A long list of projects with roots in Yiddish Summer is witness to the creative success of this approach, including The Other Europeans, Diaspora Redux, Semer Label Reloaded, Forshpil, Alpenklezmer, Voices of Ashkenaz, the Arkady Gendler Project, Daniel Kahn and the Painted Bird, and many more.

And the final concert is often the place where projects of the future get their first public exposure. The team of artist/teachers in this year's Instrumental Workshop brings an incredible variety of styles and approaches to the table, and the final concert promises to be full of surprises. Join us and hear the projects of tomorrow today at their moment of birth!
Directed by Alan Bern, Paul Brody, Patrick Farrell, Johannes Gräßer, Ilya Shneyveys, Michael Winograd and more.
