Yiddish Summer invites you to join in the festival
This year for the first time Yiddish Summer invites you to a "Festival within the Festival." Every evening from 5th to 9th August you can hear where New Yiddish Music is heading in concerts featuring leading artists. During the day we invite the inhabitants of Weimar and visitors to join in some of the activities in our special program. Come along and sing, dance, make music, and eat together with the artists in a relaxed atmosphere at various venues in Weimar.
A special highlight of the festival will be screenings of a series of documentaries by Josh Waletzky, one of the leading filmmakers of our time. Yiddish Summer is proud to be showing the films – the first time they will be screened in Europe – in cooperation with "Lichthaus Kino". The director will be present and is looking forward to talking to you and answering your questions. Walking tours of the city, excursions, a Yiddish cookery class, Yiddish lunch, dancing and singing, and open klezmer sessions make Yiddish Summer Weimar a festival for the whole family.
Many of the events are in the Other Music Academy, where there is something else new – the Summer Café (OMAcafé) that invites you to relax and linger whenever you feel the need.
